The Eagle-Picher LTC-7P is a Keeper series board-mount primary lithium cell using lithium thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl₂) chemistry, delivering 750 mAh at a 3.5 V nominal operating voltage. Its hermetically sealed stainless steel case mounts directly on the printed circuit board with no holder, which is why it backs up SRAM and real-time clocks in instruments, industrial controllers and aerospace equipment. The flat discharge curve holds the voltage steady over the whole service life, so the circuit designer does not have to allow for voltage decay.

Overview

The Eagle-Picher LTC-7P belongs to the Keeper series of board-mount lithium thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl₂) primary cells designed for direct PCB mounting. It is widely used for SRAM and real-time clock backup in frequency counters, time interval analyzers, industrial instruments and aerospace equipment. The rectangular prismatic cell (30.0 × 17.0 × 7.0 mm) has a hermetically sealed all-stainless-steel case, an internal short-circuit protection design so an accidental short does not become a hazard, and four PCB pins compatible with standard wave soldering for up to 5 seconds without loss of performance. Rated capacity is 750 mAh at 25°C and a 350-hour discharge rate, rated open-circuit voltage (OCV) is 3.67 V, operating voltage 3.5 V, and the operating temperature range is −55°C to +85°C. Self-discharge is very low, so the cell stores at room temperature and provides more than ten years of backup life. It is UL Recognized, RoHS / WEEE compliant and UN transport tested, meets US federal hazardous-materials shipping rules, and can be bought and shipped internationally from stock.
