955 Series Power Amplifiers

High-power microwave and millimeter-wave amplification from 0.5 GHz to 110 GHz

The Mi-Wave 955 series power amplifiers are RF modules for high-power transmit chains at microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies, covering 0.5 GHz to 110 GHz across the wideband (0.5 to 50 GHz) models and the Ka, Q, U, V, E and W bands. Gain options run from 12 dB to 60 dB and saturated output from +8 dBm to +47 dBm, with coaxial (2.92 mm, 2.4 mm, 1.85 mm) and waveguide (WR-28, WR-22, WR-19, WR-15, WR-12, WR-10) interfaces. Engineers building test systems, satellite uplinks, radar transmitters or 5G/6G millimeter-wave prototypes choose from more than 80 standard models or ask us to quote a custom specification.

Overview

The Mi-Wave 955 series power amplifiers use monolithic microwave integrated circuits and serve broadband transmit applications from 0.5 GHz to the top of W-band (110 GHz). Each model is tuned for gain flatness in its band so that output power stays stable and repeatable across the operating range, with saturated output up to +47 dBm. The amplifiers are unconditionally stable and include bias sequencing, so they run reliably in continuous wave (CW) service over long periods. Before ordering, fix the band and interface first, then the gain and Psat you need; check the bias supply, which ranges from low-voltage DC to line AC on the highest-power models, and keep the case below +60 °C. The series is used in satellite uplinks, radar transmitters, point-to-point microwave links, 5G and 6G millimeter-wave development, electronic warfare and RF test benches.

Features

0.5 to 110 GHz in one family

The 955 series covers the wideband models plus the Ka, Q, U, V, E and W bands with more than 80 standard models, so a multi-band system can be sourced and integrated from one product line.

High output power

Saturated output up to +47 dBm and P1dB up to +44 dBm meet the power demands of satellite uplinks and radar transmitters.

High gain, flat response

Gain from 12 dB to 60 dB, with each model tuned for flatness so the output amplitude is consistent and predictable across the band.

Unconditionally stable

Every amplifier is unconditionally stable and includes bias sequencing, so it runs continuously under CW conditions with low system risk.

Many interface options

2.92 mm, 2.4 mm and 1.85 mm coaxial connectors and WR-10 to WR-28 waveguide ports connect into test instruments, RF links and system platforms.

Broad application range

5G/6G millimeter-wave development, satellite communications, radar, weather and earth observation, electronic warfare and RF test and measurement.

Typical applications

955 series power amplifier in a satellite ground station uplink

Satellite communications

Satellite ground station uplink amplification

In VSAT and high-throughput satellite (HTS) terminals, a 955 series amplifier sits at the end of the uplink chain and raises the modulated signal to a level that clears atmospheric loss, so Ka-band to W-band uplinks keep their link margin through rain fade.

Radar and defense

Millimeter-wave radar transmitter drive

In the transmit front end of FMCW, pulse-Doppler and phased array radars, the 955 series' linear output (+8 dBm to +47 dBm across the family) extends detection range while holding intermodulation down, meeting the spectral purity that aerospace and defense systems require.

RF labs use the 955 series as the driver behind a signal source for OTA performance and noise figure measurements on antennas, filters, mixers and receive chains. With coverage from 0.5 GHz to 110 GHz, engineers complete swept calibrations from 5G FR2 to W-band on one bench.
