630BN
Ruggedized failsafe igniter tester with diode test, designed for military ordnance programs
The AMPTEC 630BN is a ruggedized igniter tester designed for military ordnance programs. It packs a self-contained DC milliammeter and test resistors into a compact waterproof case with a shielded Faraday cage, for safe in-circuit testing of bridgewires, fuzes and explosive bolts. Its failsafe current limits prevent accidental initiation, which makes it a dependable choice for electronics, ordnance, aerospace and defense engineers doing low-resistance work where the risk is real. Evencat is AMPTEC's sole distributor in Taiwan.
Overview
The AMPTEC 630BN is the ruggedized failsafe ohmmeter in the 630/640/641 series that adds diode test. It was developed for US military ordnance programs and carries NSN 6625-01-587-4854. A self-contained DC milliammeter and test resistors sit inside a shielded Faraday cage, so bridgewires, fuzes, explosive bolts, rocket motor squibs and other pyrotechnic devices can be measured in circuit under the roughest conditions. Each range has its own failsafe current ceiling, so the current reaching the igniter under test always stays inside the safe envelope. Four ranges span 20Ω to 200KΩ with resolution down to 1 mΩ and accuracy of ±0.02% of reading and range. The rugged waterproof case carries a 4½ digit LED display and runs on rechargeable NICAD batteries. The meter is UL-913 compliant, built under ISO 9001:2015, and in service with NASA and the US Air Force. When ordering, pick one probe or lead set from the options list; it ships with the meter as standard.

Features
Failsafe current on every range
Each range has its own failsafe current ceiling (8 mA on the 20Ω range), so the current reaching the igniter can never rise into the initiation zone.
Ruggedized waterproof case
The compact rugged, waterproof case was specified for military ordnance programs (NSN 6625-01-587-4854) and stands up to field and deployed conditions.
Shielded Faraday cage
A self-contained DC milliammeter, test resistors and a shielded Faraday cage keep outside electromagnetic noise out; among the safest and most self-aware meters of its type.
Diode test
Diode test capability lets you check firing circuits that contain diodes in circuit, widening the range of pyrotechnic devices one meter can cover.
High-resolution low-resistance measurement
The 20Ω range resolves 1 mΩ with accuracy of ±.02% of reading and range, precise enough for bridgewires and other low-resistance pyrotechnic parts.
Rechargeable battery power
Runs on 5AHr rechargeable NICAD batteries, with a 4½ digit LED display updating 3 times per second, for field and production-line use.
Typical applications

Military munitions
Safe testing of initiators and explosive bridgewires in the field
Deployed outdoors or at the front, munitions crews measure the pin resistance of explosive bridgewires (EBW) and initiators to confirm continuity and that the value meets the safety spec. The 630BN's waterproof ruggedized case and Faraday cage let them do that in bad weather and electrical noise, with the test current capped at 8 mA so the device cannot fire.
Aerospace launch
Pre-launch firing circuit and diode verification on rockets and satellites
NASA and US Air Force (USAF) technicians preparing a rocket or satellite for launch have to verify the squibs and protection diodes in the firing circuit. With diode test built in, the 630BN completes the resistance measurement and the diode direction check on one instrument, cutting instrument swaps and handling risk, and it meets the NSN # 6625-01-587-4854 procurement spec.

Defense maintenance
Firing system checks during scheduled weapon system maintenance
Defense contractors and ordnance maintenance units measure pyrotechnic circuit resistance to a standard operating procedure (SOP) during scheduled maintenance to confirm the system is ready. The 630BN's four ranges (20Ω to 200 kΩ), ±0.02% accuracy and rechargeable NICAD pack support long field sessions, so a full routine check is completed with no external power.
