BoardMaster 19" Rack
A universal circuit board fault-finding system with the full ABI instrument set built into one 19-inch rack
BoardMaster 19" Rack is the system a repair lab reaches for when boards arrive without schematics and downtime is expensive. It combines digital and analog in-circuit and out-of-circuit functional tests, V-I signature comparison and a set of built-in instruments, so one bench can localize faults on almost any board. The rack ships with a complete workstation and SYSTEM 8 Ultimate preinstalled. We recommend it to maintenance labs and engineering teams that need to return boards to service quickly and keep equipment availability high.
Overview
BoardMaster 19" Rack is the top of ABI's universal board diagnostic range: every SYSTEM 8 test module and measurement instrument fitted into a single 19-inch rack. The core is in-circuit component testing, both analog and digital. It checks whether a device still performs its function and, looking outward from the pins, whether its connections are intact. Around that core sit several other fault-finding methods: V-I signature testing in 2D and 3D, analog matrix V-I, and digital and analog IC tests. Together they let an engineer narrow a fault down and get the equipment running again without a schematic. Built-in instruments include a digital oscilloscope, digital multimeter, arbitrary function generator, frequency and event counter, universal I/O, programmable power supply, EPROM verifier, digital IC identifier and short locator. The rack ships with a complete workstation running SYSTEM 8 Ultimate, and ABI provides software updates free for the life of the product with no seat or maintenance charges. Typical users are rail, aerospace, defense, automotive and telecom maintenance groups that want to cut repair time and cost and raise the availability and reliability of their assets.

Features
In-circuit component testing
Analog and digital in-circuit tests check whether each device still works and whether its pins are correctly connected, so faults are localized quickly on the board.
V-I signature testing (2D and 3D)
Digital and analog V-I tests plus analog matrix V-I compare a known-good board against the unit under test with no power applied.
Built-in instrument set
Digital oscilloscope, digital multimeter, arbitrary function generator, frequency and event counter and programmable power supply are integrated in one system.
Expandable channel count
The Board Fault Locator, Advanced Test Module and Advanced Matrix Scanner each start at 64 channels and can each grow to 256 for large boards.
SYSTEM 8 Ultimate software
Multi-license SYSTEM 8 Ultimate comes preinstalled. TestFlow Manager builds programmable test sequences, and updates are free for life with no seat fees.
Built for critical industries
Used in rail, aerospace, defense, automotive and telecom maintenance to shorten repair time and raise equipment availability and reliability.
Typical applications

Repair center
Aerospace, defense and rail vehicle board repair
Airline, defense contractor and railway workshops use BoardMaster 19" Rack to compare and localize faults on control boards that have no drawings or are out of production. Avionics communication and braking boards go back into service without waiting on the OEM, which cuts equipment downtime.
Industrial maintenance
Wind turbine, elevator and infrastructure equipment maintenance
Wind farms, elevator makers and factory automation groups run the built-in automated test sequences on controller, inverter and pitch-system PCBs with the board unpowered. A technician follows the steps to reach a diagnosis, which extends the life of expensive equipment and reduces electronic waste.

Quality control
Outgoing and incoming QC on electronics production lines
EMS providers and telecom equipment makers put BoardMaster 19" Rack into an outgoing test or incoming inspection station. In-circuit functional tests of analog and digital ICs and V-I comparison expose solder defects, reversed parts and counterfeit components, and the QA report feeds traceability records.
