620LK-P5

Intrinsically safe, high-accuracy ground continuity and bond resistance tester built for aerospace bonding work.

620LK-P5 is an affordable, accurate and intrinsically safe ground continuity tester. It reads the resistance between the part under test and ground automatically and tells you whether the ground is good. Two ranges with milliohm-level resolution suit aerospace bonding measurements, including elevator tab assembly checks. Commercial aircraft production lines and maintenance shops use it as their standard bond tester.

Overview

AMPTEC 620LK-P5 is an intrinsically safe ground continuity tester that reads the resistance between a part and ground directly, so an engineer can decide quickly whether continuity meets the requirement. It has two ranges, 20 Ω and 200 Ω, resolves down to 0.001 Ω, and holds ±0.05% of range accuracy. The test current is low, 1 mA or 0.1 mA, which keeps the circuit under test out of harm's way. The meter is UL-913 certified for intrinsic safety and MIL-STD-810 compliant, works from −20° to 50° C, and pairs a 4½-digit LCD with a compact 3 lb body. Safety certification, portability and accuracy make it a natural fit for aerospace bonding and grounding work. It ships with a 630-100 padded case, a 10 ft test lead set and a calibration certificate; check which probe set matches your test points before ordering.

Features

Certified intrinsically safe

UL-913 certified for intrinsic safety and MIL-STD-810 compliant, so it can be used where bonding and grounding checks are safety sensitive.

Milliohm-level accuracy

Two ranges with 0.001 Ω resolution and ±0.05% of range accuracy resolve small bond resistances with confidence.

Low test current

Measures at 1 mA / 0.1 mA, keeping the circuit under test out of harm's way in safety-critical applications.

Readable digital display

4½-digit LCD updating every 3 seconds, quick to judge on site.

Compact and portable

About 3 lbs on 4 AA alkaline cells, delivered with a 630-100 padded case and a 10 ft test lead set for production line and field use.

Wide operating temperature

Operates from −20° to 50° C, so it measures reliably in harsh aerospace and industrial field conditions.

Typical applications

620LK-P5 checking ground continuity on aircraft control surfaces and elevator tabs

Aircraft maintenance

Ground continuity on control surfaces and elevator tabs

During scheduled MRO on commercial and military aircraft, technicians use 620LK-P5 to measure ground continuity on ailerons, rudders and elevator tabs. Each metal-to-metal joint is confirmed within specification (no more than 0.003Ω per connection) so static cannot build up near the fuel system or couple interference into the avionics.

Hazardous areas

Grounding compliance in explosive gas atmospheres

In fuel depots, pyrotechnic stores and military facilities with volatile vapors, 620LK-P5 carries UL-913 intrinsic safety and EU ATEX approval (EEX-9B-IIC-T4) for Class I Division 1 locations. Equipment grounding is verified on site without shutting down to purge the atmosphere, reducing the risk of static discharge ignition.

Defense manufacturing

Grounding QC on aerospace and defense assembly lines

In assembly processes used by NASA and the USAF, 620LK-P5 verifies the ground path resistance between structural parts and ground wiring. During missile, satellite and aircraft build and integration, every conductive assembly is checked against MIL-STD-810F and ISO 9001:2015 quality requirements so a poor ground cannot cause a system failure or an ignition hazard.
