SYSTEM 8 Advanced Test Module (ATM)
In-circuit component test and functional board-level test in one module for digital PCB fault diagnosis
The SYSTEM 8 Advanced Test Module (ATM) is the test and diagnosis tool for digital ICs and logic PCB assemblies, from in-circuit test of a single device up to functional verification of the complete assembly. It combines five methods, functional, connection, voltage, thermal and V-I signature, and is driven by a device library: the engineer enters the part number of the device under test (DUT) and the test runs. For repair and QA labs that must work without circuit diagrams, the ATM cuts troubleshooting time and equipment spend. Evencat is an authorized distributor for ABI Electronics in Taiwan.
Overview
The SYSTEM 8 Advanced Test Module (ATM) is the in-circuit and out-of-circuit functional test module of the ABI Electronics SYSTEM 8 range, built for the test and fault diagnosis of digital ICs and logic PCBs of every kind. It combines functional, connection, voltage, thermal and V-I signature tests to reach the best fault coverage at PCB or component level, runs both power-on and power-off tests, and works on the board or with the device removed. Capacity reaches 2,048 channels. A large device library spanning the main logic families loads the test vectors as soon as the part number is entered. Manufacturing defects such as dry joints, bridges and open tracks, and component failures such as damaged ICs, shorted diodes and open resistors, are found by the in-circuit as-wired functional test, which reads how the device is actually connected and adapts the vectors. Automated test sequences, result logging and reporting make it a good fit for labs and repair units that want board-level test capability, traceable data and in-house repair.

Features
In-circuit functional test
The proven as-wired technique tests a device functionally in the circuit: the system detects how the IC is connected and adapts the test vectors, so no circuit diagram is needed.
Five methods in one
Functional, Connection, Voltage, Thermal and V-I signature tests assess function, wiring, pin voltages and internal structure for the best fault coverage.
All logic families
Handles TTL, CMOS, LVTTL, ECL, DTL, LSI, RTL, PECL and LVPECL, with up to 2,048 channels for both component and PCB test.
In-circuit or out-of-circuit
Test on the board, or isolate a suspect device in an out-of-circuit adapter for closer diagnosis or to verify a new part before fitting.
Library-driven operation
The device library is sorted by family and carries default packages and board connectors, so entering a part number is enough; setup time and training are minimal.
Automated sequences and reports
Automated test sequences, loop testing and result logging flag problems with a green tick or red cross, compare against a known-good board and store results for traceability.
Typical applications

Repair and diagnosis
Board repair for aerospace and defense equipment
Air force, navy and defense maintenance units servicing in-service equipment use the SYSTEM 8 ATM to test resistors, capacitors, transistors and ICs in-circuit without removing them. The fault area narrows quickly, mean time to repair (MTTR) falls and fewer good parts are replaced by mistake.
Production QA
Functional board-level verification on the production line
Contract manufacturers (CEMs) and in-house lines run a functional board test on finished PCBs after SMT with the ATM. V/I signature analysis picks out poor joints, wrong parts and damaged components, so defective boards are stopped before shipment and each batch stays consistent.

R&D verification
Prototype component verification in the engineering lab
During prototype development and debug, design engineers measure and compare passive and active components on the board in-circuit with the ATM. Actual parameters are checked against the design without pulling parts, which speeds iteration and lowers the risk of damaging the prototype.
